Al has been involved in community development and good government since 1977. He also currently serves as Rich Township Supervisor, is a former Rich Township Trustee; a former three-term Trustee in the Village of Olympia Fields who served as Finance Chairman as well as Public Safety and Human Resources Trustee; a former Planning Commissioner of Park Forest; and a Delegate nominee for two Presidential candidates.
He also served as a campaign advisor for numerous local and state elected officials. Riley is on the board of numerous organizations including: former Vice-President of the Unity Coalition of the South Suburbs, Executive Board, Calumet Council Boy Scouts of America and the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra.
Representative Riley is a Certified Urban Planner and Statistician by profession, having penned numerous publications in education, economic analysis, medical research and health planning. He holds Masters Degrees in Urban Planning and Policy Analysis and Statistics and did Doctoral studies in Public Policy Analysis. He has taught at numerous universities; most recently, ten years as an Adjunct Professor in Business and Public Administration at Governors State University specializing in Statistics and Policy courses.
