Accomplishments

Al’s comprehensive view of the needs of not only the 38th District, but the South Suburbs as a whole can be seen in his bills which cover the vital areas of: Violence Prevention, Consumer Protection, Senior Citizens, Health Care, Veterans, Community Interests, People with Disabilities, Education, Government, Energy and Finance.

  • Co-sponsor of House Bill 750; the ONLY comprehensive education bill which equitably provides funds to our children while reducing property taxes
  • Developed numerous pieces of legislation insuring the health, safety and welfare of Illinois citizens
  • Led the fight for a metropolitan transit system that is modern, safe and efficient, and responsive to the growing needs of the Southland region  
  • Convened a House Subcommittee hearing in Matteson in June to hear from local elected officials, citizens and advocates on funding equity issues
  • Worked on the improved “Illinois Covered” affordable health care proposal
  • Coordinated with Mayors, local officials, community groups and citizens on their community development needs
